Miami Dade College presents Juan Luis Perez Exhibition
Origins of my Roots "Ashe a mis Raices" Miami Dade College’s (MDC) West Campus will present Origins of my Roots "Ashe a mis raices", an exhibition by artist Juan Luis Perez inspired by traditions and remembrances of Cuba, his country of provenance, as well as by his American life experience at the present moment. Cuban Art and its primary difference is the cultural inheritance of the afro-Cuban culture and a strong Spaniard influence. The artist considers that his work is simply a fusion of all his lived experiences and skills & techniques gathered over the years combined to bring a personal expression of energy, lecture and a message, but more to himself with a personal stamp that not even the artist can duplicate. The exhibition opens at 11.30 am on Thursday, May 17. The opening ceremony will include a conversation with the artist. Free and open to the public. Origins of my Roots "Ashe a mis raices" consists of 10 original hand-painted mixed media paintings of diverse size, three sculptures and one installation. The exhibition will remain on display in the West Lobby through July 20.
